Pumping and Bottle-feeding the Breastfed Baby!

Using a breast pump to express milk for your baby often isn’t as straightforward as it may seem. Some women pump occasionally to store milk for later usage; some pump while they are away from baby to work outside of the home; some have chosen to exclusively pump due to medical or breastfeeding issues. Learning how to properly use your breast pump will make a substantial difference, not only for your comfort, but also in how much milk you are able to express.

This class is taught by Jaudon Rogers, MS, RN, IBCLC, CCE. Jaudon will discuss the fundamentals of pumping, including:

-types of breast pumps
-pumping technique
-demonstrations of Spectra and Medela breast pumps
-when and why you should pump
-how to ensure a correct fit (flange sizing)
-optional accessories
-milk storage guidelines

Jaudon will also discuss feeding your baby expressed milk via “paced bottle feeding”. She will discuss how, when and why this is important.

Both expecting parents and parents with babies present may attend. It is recommended for both parents to attend. For questions about this class, please reach out to Jaudon via email at matrescencelactaton@gmail.com or call/text at 773-609-0347.

Registration is required by 10/26/18.
